The long-awaited arrival of the world’s greatest active opera tenor in Cuba, first announced in July of this year has been confirmed. Plácido will perform live in Havana in La Plaza de la Catedral on November 26. The Maestro will appear along with his son, Plácido Jr., and the famed soprano Ana María Martínez, directed by Eugene Kohn. Of the great contemporary tenors Plácido is the most beloved in Cuba for his Spanish roots.
Plácido has long expressed a desire to perform in Cuba, citing his parents warm memories of travels in Havana. Until President Obama’s relaxation of prohibitions against artists performing in Cuba, Domingo has been unable to realize this long-held desire due to his contracts with U.S. recording companies.
Havana VIP Tours still has one packet of four VIP tickets to attend the concert.
